Foundation and Production

CCPC Foundation

Clemson University’s Musser Fruit Research Center provides the infrastructure for the CCPC to house clean plants. The Foundation is a collection of important accessions of trees, which serve as nuclear stock material for the industry to propagate. At the CCPC, we maintain a collection of peach trees, mainly those suitable for production in the Southeast. We keep this collection in an isolated greenhouse as well as in a field block at the Musser Fruit Research Center. Trees are visually inspected regularly and tested annually for important viruses in order to guarantee mother trees remain clean of targeted pathogens.
