Foundation Rootstock at the CCPC!
Exciting news at the CCPC: we harvested our first round of seeds from our Outdoor Foundation rootstock trees! This was the first year we had a viable crop load on our rootstock trees, including four cultivars. Many thanks to the Clemson Musser Fruit Research Center crew for helping with the harvest and cleaning of the seeds. The seeds were harvested and defleshed all on the same day. The drying process took about two weeks, and now they are ready for use! Go to our “Foundation and Production” page to see what rootstock seed cultivars are available! – CCPC team

We are excited to announce we have added Dr. Rabia El-Hawaz to the Clemson Clean Plant Center Team! She will be working on prunus virus elimination therapy and is an expert in tissue culture. Rabia will be creating and fine tuning protocols and procedures for the prunus virus elimination service we will offer at the CCPC soon. We will post more updates about the future prunus virus elimination service, so be on the lookout. Join us in welcoming Rabia! -CCPC Team
2022 Southeastern Budwood Program
Hi all, We are currently underway testing over 2,500 peach trees around the Southeast for three important viruses to prunus trees. We collect, test using a specialized ELISA assay, and report the results to growers and nursery’s. If you click our Southeastern Budwood Program tab you can learn more! We are almost finished testing and this year has been the most successful year we have had yet dealing with streamlining and efficiency. Hopefully one of our virus indexed trees will supply the bud wood for a tree near you! -CCPC Team
